The opposite of an air raid applies here. Go to a higher floor, not into a cellar or underground.
What to do
- Go into the nearest building, to a higher floor Not into a cellar or underground. If you are outside, walk across the wind direction, away from the leak.
- Close windows and doors, turn off ventilation Also air conditioning and the cooker hood. Put out any fire in the stove.
- Seal the room Wet towels under the door, tape over window gaps and vents.
- Protect your breathing A damp handkerchief, towel or face mask over your nose and mouth.
- Listen to the radio and wait for instructions Leave the building only when evacuation is announced. Were you outside in the affected area? Put your clothes in a plastic bag and take a shower.
How you will find out
First you will hear the rising and falling siren, the General warning signal. Talking sirens then say, in Czech, what the danger is. Information is also given on the radio, TV (ČT24), local public address systems and by firefighters on site.
