Privacy policy
Applies to the Kam se ukrýt app for Android, for iPhone, its web version and this website. Effective from 1 October 2026.
In short
The app does not collect any data about you. It has no accounts, no ads and no analytics, and it does not send anything about you to our servers. Everything you enter in the app stays only on your phone.
Location
If you allow it, the app uses your phone's location to work out the distance and direction to the nearest shelters, and to show coordinates on the Contacts screen that you can read out to the 112 emergency operator. The calculation happens only on your phone. We do not store your location or send it anywhere, and the app does not track it in the background, only while it is open. Without permission the app still works, you can set your position by tapping the map.
Compass
The arrow to the shelter turns with your phone's compass. Sensor data is used only while it is displayed and is not stored anywhere.
"I'm OK" message and sharing your family plan
The "I'm OK" button opens your text messaging app with a ready-made message to the numbers you have entered in your family plan yourself. If you choose so, the message includes a link to your location. You send the message yourself, the app never sends it on its own. Likewise, the "Send to family" button only opens your phone's share menu. Text messages are charged according to your mobile plan.
Reminders
If you turn them on, the app schedules notifications on your phone for the siren test and for checking your emergency bag. The notifications are created on your phone, they do not come from any server. You can turn them off in the app or in your phone's settings.
Map and offline map
When you are online, the background map is loaded from OpenStreetMap servers. You can download your region's map to your phone for offline use; it is downloaded from GitHub storage (a service of GitHub, Inc.). As with any website, your device's IP address and technical browser details are passed to these services when the maps load. See the OpenStreetMap Foundation privacy policy and the GitHub privacy statement. Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors.
Navigation
The Navigate button opens Google Maps or Mapy.cz. Their own privacy policies apply there.
Data stored on your phone
The only things stored on your phone are what you enter in the app yourself (ticked items in your emergency bag, your family plan including phone numbers, the number of people for the supplies calculation, filter, reminder and language settings), whether you have allowed location access, and downloaded regional maps. None of this leaves your phone unless you share it yourself. You can delete it by uninstalling the app or clearing its data; downloaded maps can also be deleted directly in the app.
App permissions
- Location – distance and direction to shelters, coordinates for 112.
- Notifications – only if you turn on reminders.
- Internet – the map, downloading regional maps, updating the list of maps.
The app has no access to your contacts, photos, microphone or camera.
This website
The kamseukryt.cz website uses no cookies and no ads, and it does not load fonts or any other content from Google. It runs on Cloudflare Pages (Cloudflare, Inc.), which, like any web server, processes your IP address and technical browser details on each visit to deliver the page and protect it from attacks.
We measure visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics. It uses no cookies, stores nothing in your browser and does not track individual visitors across websites. We only see aggregate numbers: how many visits each page had, where visitors came from, from which country and on which type of device. See the Cloudflare privacy policy.
On the Emergency bag page you can tick off items and enter the number of people for the supplies calculation. This is stored only in your browser (localStorage) and is never sent anywhere. You can delete it by clearing the website data in your browser.
Shelter data sources
Data on permanent shelters comes from the public map service of the Fire Rescue Service of the Czech Republic, data on the Prague metro protection system and the Strahov tunnel from the map of Prague City Hall. The app is not run by the state or the Fire Rescue Service.
